hey guys, it been a while since i have posted but a new problem has popped up. lately, within the past month the throttle response is lacking. while i am in third gear, od off, and the rpm is down to around 1500 and i give it a little more gas nothing happens. it stays right at that rpm, then a few seconds later, i dont mean split seconds, i mean countable seconds, it starts to accelerate. if i give it enough gas, almost punching it, but not really i responds right away. what could this be, it is really annoying, and i dont want it to get worse. i dont think its the tranny slipping because the rpm does not change, it stays the same, could i be icp o-rings? the truck is jsut shy of 120k, has a little chip in it from when i bought it, 80hp i think, and a muffler delete, other than that it is stock. any help is appreciated.
Mine is doing the same thing and I ran a bunch of checks on Auto Enginuity and found nothing. Hopefully someone had this happen in the past and will share.
With your Auto Enginuity tool did you check the throttle position? Put it on one of the graphs and graph the pedal with gradual slow movement and make sure that it's responding to all movements. It could be that part of the sensor is starting to fail as it seems to me that it should be like a variable resistor.
You shouldn't have to start the truck to run this test.
Try this....at that same speed, set the cruise control. Then accellerate with the button on the steering wheel. If it speeds up normally then the TPS is bad.

Yep the TPS checked fine, my brother watched it while I drove.

Now that makes sense, will try that later today. Thanks

That's a good idea. I'm real curious as to what this problem is. I hope we can help him find it.
i went to try the cruise thing tonight after i checked in here this evening, because it was acting up on the way home. when i went to test it would not do it. mndiesel, is this how yours is as well, kind of intermitent, but happen more often than not? does the intermitent part help anyone verify this problem? thanks guys, i appreciate the help

Well I know I found one problem. I got the code for the EBV sensor the last 2 tests I ran on AE. I took off the sensor and it really wasn't too bad. But when I pulled off the tube it fell in 2 pieces, rusted right through. The sad part is the ford truck dealer couldn't get one till Tuesday so I had to make one out of brake line.I am hoping that might have been the reason only time will tell. The answer to your question, yes it is intermitten, sometimes it does it when I first take off in it and sometimes it does it when its warm. I also replaced the icp while I was under the hood. Seemd to be quieter and smoother going to and from the races tonight.
