Exclamation Help. Which Fuel Pump do I need.

I need to replace the front pump on my 1995 F250HD 4X4 Standard Cab. LWB ZF 5spd Sterling 10.25.
I have looked at Rock Auto, Advance and NPD web sites and I am only more confused
Here is the VIN:
1F = FMC USA
T = TRUCK
H= 8501 TO 9000 F250HD F350
F26= F250 4X4 STD. CAB.
H= V8 5.8
S= 1995
L= WAYNE, MI.

I have determined its the pump not the valve because when you flip the switch I cannot hear the pump come on. If I'm wrong please let me know. I am moving in a week (1000 miles) and I really would like to use both tanks.

Thanks guys

It may not be the fuel pump, it could be a faulty fuel pump relay:

FOAZ14N089A .. Fuel Pump Relay / Fits: 1993/97 F250/350 F(Super Duty) gas.

MSRP: $12.06 // FTE sponsor y2kfordparts.com price: $8.69.

Thumbs up Thanks

I will replace that first, do you know the part number for the pump?
Thanks again, this is not the first time you have helped me. I hope I can return the favor someday.

LOL...I went to look up the fuel pump first, found out there is more than one.

According to the parts catalog it comes with the sending unit.

What I suggest is, contact Ed Olson at FTE sponsor y2kfordparts.com (Millennium Ford in Seattle), send him your VIN and request.

He will give you all the particulars.

Note: If you've dealt with Ed before, he moved to this dealership last Monday (June 8th). So there is no longer anyone known as FTE Parts Guy.

The former dealer Ed worked at (Sub-Parr Ford), is not accepting any more orders from FTE members.

Look on this page among the sponsors for the link to Y2K FORD DISCOUNT PARTS. You may have to refresh once or twice for the link to appear.

you could call a local dealership and give them your calibration number and they will be able to tell you what pump you'll need whether 17 or 19 gal.

sorry to thread jack. if the relay is bad it can cause only one pump to work but not the other? because on my truck i have a rear pump but if i switch it to the front the gauge goes all the way empty and the pump does not kick on. according to the po the truck was only running on the front tank.

If the rear tank pump works but the front doesn't, the relay is not likely to be the problem, since both pumps are fed from the same relay via the selector switch on the dash. Do check for 12V at the front tank pump when selected to make sure it isn't a wiring problem between the switch and the tank.

Most dealers will not give out that info, that's why I suggested contacting FTE sponsor Ed Olson at y2kfordparts.com (Millennium Ford-Seattle).

Ed's the parts manager, has the info at his finger tips. It's a FREE service.

The VIN, when typed into Ford's computer system, will list ALL the specific part numbers for whatever.

I've never heard of a Calibration Code doing the same thing.

All the Calibration Code charts (there are 100's!) are listed in parts catalogs.

If I had the code, I could tell you every part/part number that is listed.

But the fuel pumps themselves are not listed in the Calibration Code charts.

Since all fuel pumps are listed by themselves in the parts catalog, what will the Calibration Code tell you inre to fuel pumps? Nothing.

It could also be the switch on the dash, so check at the plug going to the tank for power to the pump with a 12 Volt test light that loads the circuit.
If one tank runs then as said above the relay and the Inertia switch is OK.
If you need photos of any of the parts, plugs or wiring diagrams just email me.

As far as the fuel pump goes and it may be your problem.
The fuel pump (pump & valve unit) at Advance the E2059MN should work on the front tank.

The big difference between Ford dealers and the auto parts stores is that Ford only sells the whole unit as was said above (Gauge sender, pump & valve unit, stand pipe and wiring with plug). The auto part stores just sell the pump & valve unit and that is why it is much cheaper at the auto parts stores. The pump & valve unit will fit a lot more application so they do not have to stock only a few to fit everything. Where Ford has a whole list of different units to cover everything with the entire Fuel Delivery Module.

Thumbs up All good info Guys thanks.

Because of the time constraints I trusted my gut and found the pump local at Advance, Airtex Part # E2059MN. I did call my local Ford dealer whom we purchased our Navigator from and who has also serviced the LS while it was under warranty. He would not give me the part number but offered to order the part and have it same day. $383.00 plus a new Ford connector $37.00.
I have been a Ford man since birth (I had no choice) and still love the cars/trucks. I would have loved to buy factory Ford parts but I cannot justify it when Advance Auto met Rock Auto's price. Advance Auto $138.00 Rock Auto $130. the difference pretty much saved me the cost of the fuel filter.
I starter the install last night and stopped when I realized I took my Ford Fuel line tools to PA on our last trip. I had the plastic set that worked well but bought the aluminum scissor style this morning. You need both 5/16 and 3/8. They worked well $12 each.
I did not care for the cheap butt connectors that came with the pump so I purchased new connectors and shrink tube. I reinstalled everything and and it solved the problem. I am grateful for everyone's help and happy about the repair.

Where to go for the how to

I have very similar problems with my newly acquired 1989 4X4 XLT! Is there any reason why, if I only want to use the front tank, I couldn't relace the low pressure, in-tank pump with a high pressure pump and plumb the fuel line directly to the filter?

If I posted this message incorrectly, I apologize ... just learning how to use the FTE forum.

Thanks,

Derek

You could but you will have to replace the fuel tank and fuel lines to carry the pressure also.

Why would the fuel tank need to be replaced?

The hole for the Fuel Delivery Module (FDM) is the wrong size and the cut out notches for it are in the wrong place.

There are high pressure pumps that will fit in the stock sender, much like what is used in mustangs, right? The FDM wouldn't be the only high pressure in-tank pump option, would it?
