Me & My dad just bought a 1995 1-ton 7.3L PSD. Truck runs great, it just doesn't have much power. Taking off is kind of leisurely. Seems to run smooth otherwise.
Now as for the stalling issue. When first started, the truck runs ok, does not stall...etc. I left it idling for around 20 minutes this afternoon (hottest part of the day) while i was around the house taking care of things. Never stalled once. Take the truck out for about a 20 minute drive (slow n easy one at that) and bring it home. Shut down and restart, it'll idle for about 2 or 3 minutes tops..and stall like i cut the key off. Being a total newb to diesels....hopefully someone can point me in the right direction to get this fixed.
I also hooked up the OBD-II scanner to the diagnostic port, and got a system pass, so im not real sure why its stalling.
The CPS has been replaced, found the box in the cab along with the receipt. I'm still not sure whats causing the low power, or stalling. My next guess would be the back pressure sensor. I've read that does stupid things to these rigs.
Turns out it was a stopped up fuel filter, and a bad cps, even though it was just replaced. Truck runs much better now, hard shifts have stopped. Now just gotta get it ready to start work!
