I've got a 1989/90 Bronco and a 1989 F-350 Crew Cab 4x4 and I am intending to swap the axles across. I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips before I start pulling the axles off.
First off, welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum. We will endeavor to get you the most accurate info we can muster.
Some things to consider:
Solid front axle to replace a TTB axle
- leaf springs on the F-350
- coils on the Bronco
- solid axle under the F-350
- Twin Traction Beam D44 under the Bronco
Driveshaft(s)
- yoke/flange changes
- lengths
Springs
- no leaf spring provision under the Bronco
- No coil spring provision on the F-350 axle
I'm sure its been done. These are just the things that you will face immediately.
if you wish to stay coils which i suggest you do contact Cage Offroad. they have everything you need to make this happen and do it right. the rear diff will bolt right in and should require 0 modifications. the driveshafts may require different ujoints/flanges to bolt up properly but otherwise thats it.
Thanks for the quick replies. I was hoping to keep the coil springs and modify the front axle to match up. I was not aware that the rear would bolt right in!
The u-joints won't be the issue as I'm dropping the 460 (on propane) and the tranny into the bronco too. I'm aiming to stuff 42's under it so I'm mainly worried about the coils and the u-joint angles.
ps. sorry about the short replies I'm on the road alot.
