This may help: http://www.rtitech.com/downloads/New...Compressor.pdf

If converting from R-12, you need to flush entire system. I believe the hoses also need to be changed because the old oil is embeded.

The system holds 10 ounces. You'll be lucky to get 2oz from just the compressor, the rest is in the condenser, accumulator and evaporator. To do the conversion properly you need to:
-Disassemble the system enough to solvent flush all of the parts individually. (Basically, remove the comp and all of the lines) Thoroughly dry with compressed air.
-Replace the orifice tube and Accumulator
-Replace all of the rubber o-rings in the line connectors and compressor manifold connection.(They're all at least 17 years old)
-Flush the compressor with about 4-6 oz of the oil you plan to use. (No solvent).
- Add 10oz of BVA 100 Ester oil throughout the system (About 3-4 ox in the compressor).
-Evacuate the system to 29.5" for 30-60 minutes.
-Charge 80% of the original R12 amount of R134a.
-You can tweak the charge an ounce or 2 at a time if necessary.

That's a quick rundown of the minimum required to do it right.
