I have a six inch lift on my truck and noticed some vibrations from the drive shaft on the highway. i also heard a noise that sounded like the ujoint was worn out. Could that be why.
Yes it could be. The more worn it is, the more it will vibrate. Eventually, after it wears out enough, it will vibrate off the truck onto the pavement.
and when does vibrate off the truck it will catapult you into oncoming traffic. fix it or stay off it. Ujoints are easy. all you need is a hammer and a 3/4" socket. whack away.

I'm sorry but we don't change u-joints with a hammer!
If you do use a hammer,,,, well no need to explain!
please use the proper tools or have someone change it for you.

It cost me $70 to have a shop fix my U-joint. But that was a weird Lincoln driveshaft that used some sort of epoxy instead of c-clamps to hold the U-joint in the yoke. Also had a weird center peice that went out. This shop is known to be expensive, but they do good work. You could probably find it for a lot cheaper. Or do it yourself
Well i can personaly vouch for good u-joints being worthwile. I was cruising down the highway today and went to pass someone, well i put it down and as soon as the tranny kicked down, there was a crack, and a pause for about half a second before my motor peged the tach and hit the rev limiter,,,and about half a second after that my drive shaft proceded to hit about everything under the truck and smash against the concrete for a while. Well now i need a new driveshaft and new yokes. The thing that makes me the angriest, the u-joints were new, i'm pretty sure the one that broke had some sort of casting flaw. Anyhow, i'm going to install drive shaft loops i think, i don't want this happening again, i was just lucky it wasnt the front one.
Yo yoooooooooo,
I just replaced my rear u joint over the weekend. I have never attempted anything this difficult before, and it only took me 10 minutes to put the driveshaft back into the truck. I have a 1975 F100. Oh yeah, i didnt put the u joint into the driveshaft. My auto repair shop did that for free. I bought the part myself and the driveshaft already was out of the truck so they just had to tap it in. Once I got back to my truck it only took 10 mins to slide it onto the end of the trans and bolt up the rear...
