I haven't ruled out swapping gears if I find the right truck at the right price. I own a shop and while I don't do gears, I have a guy working for me right now who does so it would just cost me parts. I need 4x4 due to some boat ramps not having the best grip - plus I do like to drive on the beach sometimes. I usually take the Bronco out for that though! I may have found an 03 EB with the v10, 4x4 and the captains chairs and only 55k miles - fingers crossed!
BTW, it appears on paper that you may have 4.30's but I don't know if you have the stock tires or not. You can also look on your door jamb under "Axle Code" and then decipher that code using the sticky on top of the Super Duty forum.
Well - finally closed the deal on my Ex. It's a 2003 EB 4x4 v10 - has captains chairs, dvd, heated seats, 3.73 LSD, etc. We're absolutely loving it and really wish I had made this move awhile ago! It seems to sit a little higher than other 4x4's I've seen - but can't see any evidence of a lift. Either way it rides fantastic and tows like a dream. Thanks to everyone for your input to this thread and for all of the forum knowledge on this site!

Great choice. I bought an 03 XLT V10 4X4 back in November and was torn between it and the diesel. So far, the V10 has been great. BTW- love the OBX. Been vacationing there since 1998. Down towards Bodie island lighthouse, there is a beach access that is awesome. Hope to get a pic of my X there. I would also think with a stock suspension, the V10 would be best on the beach. Of course, you will probably end up putting 44's under it like every other 4X4 there..
