I think this has been a bad day. Had the local Ford shop put in a dif
temp sender in yesterday because I keep having rear end heat problems, or at least I think that is the trouble, and they had to have the cover off anyway. They put the temp sender in the fill plug hole. Now unless there is something I don't understand, the temp sender would have to be at least 1" below the fill plug to do any good. Elliott
I'd have to agree with you since the gear oil is to be filled "to the bottom of the fill hole." Maybe with the gears moving it kicks enough oil around to get a reading although it sure doesn't sound right.
