Hi Guys, I'm shopping for a newer used Powerstroke. I found a 2006 F250 XL. On the original window sticker, it lists Snowplow package $85.00. Any idea what that consists of? I know it was a fleet truck for a property main. company. Hoping it wasn't a plow truck.....
The snow plow prep option gave you heavier springs in the front, overload springs in the rear, heavier alternator, and heavier fan clutch.
Having the option is a good thing IMO, as long as the truck was not actually used for plowing. You will have to look for other physical evidence to determine if a plow was ever installed.
My own truck has that option. I does ride a little rougher as a result of the heavier front springs.

Thank you!!! That's exactly what I needed to know. I did notice the overload springs in the rear.
Now my truck came with the package but I have a standard alternator.
Curious how you know this? Because I'm wondering how to tell what mine is. I think in '06 they offered a standard alternator, a higher amperage alternator that was included with some options such as the plow prep and camper prep, and then they also offered dual alternators. Not really sure how you tell one from the other.
My 06 has it and I thought the package just had heavier springs in front and overload leafs in the rear. learn something new every day. Im curious too on how to tell if you have a diff. alternator.

I'm going by my build sheet, nothing mentions an HD alternator.
That's a good reference, and agrees with what badboy said. So, this explains why I have a 140 amp alt and downriver doesn't.
Also, by way of explanation, the reason you can't get the heavy duty suspension option with the snow plow option, is because the snow plow option already includes the heavy springs. They don't want you to order them twice.
What are the plow prep springs rated for on a gasser.
The Ford dealer told me they can get them but I need to know what # springs I want because she has no way of finding out what # springs came with the plow prep package.
Does that make sense.
