Is there a difference between 97 and 99 engine?

I am looking for long tube headers for my 97 F150 with a 5.4L engine. When I look for headers a lot of them say they will fit 99-03 5.4L engines. Is there a difference in the engine or the space around the engine that would make the headers from the 99-03 not fit in my truck?

Would something like this work for my truck? Headers and Y-pipe.

Yes there is a difference, 99 is when ford changed where the engines were produced, inturn some of the production practices were changed such as head design, which is probably why they list the headers from 99-03 because the engines were produced at the windsor plant... 97-98 were produced at the romeo plant.

There has never been a 2V 5.4L produced at the Romeo engine plant. They are ALL Windsors.

So do headers that work for the 99-03 engine work on the 97,98 engine?

They will bolt to the heads-the exhaust port configuration is identical. As to connection to the downpipes and other exhaust-that I do not know.

So has anyone done this or is there another option for longtube headers for a 97 5.4L?
