Question about OEM head unit....
Last Friday, I purchased a 2003 Excursion with 2WD, 7.3L, and Eddie Bauer trim. I've only driven it a few times, and noticed yesterday that the stereo would not power up at all until the engine had been runing for 2-3 minutes.
Has anyone seen this issue before, and what kind of problem might it be symptomatic for?

Good question... didn't check that, but I will check that this evening when I get home.
If they do not, what do you think that points to?

If they don't work along with the radio not working on the intial start up or when the ignition is on the acc position, and this only happens occasionally I think your experiencing the same problem my truck has. I'm still trying to figure this one out.

my 2006 escape does the same thing. Something to do with a bad capacitor.

Now that makes good sense, pinestar, in terms of the head unit, but how would that explain 03_PSD's experience with his windows?
BTW... I got rushed last night when I got home and forgot to check mine ofr hte window issue... will try to remember to check it tonight.

Because the windows and the stero are power delayed untill the door in open or the 10min timer runs out.

Can't say. I've only driven it a few times since purchasing last Friday, but I noticed it both of the last two times I started it.

10 minute timer? Isn't that just for when the engine is powered off after startup?
