Need to settle a dispute......

My pops is convinced his v10 2002 excursion has the same transmission as my 05 psd, as well as hes convinced I cannot read when it says change fluid/filter every 30k and his says every 100k. Damn I just wanna be right once in a while. Oh would anybody know the rwt on the 2002 v10 hes also convinced their identical?

Nope. You have a 5r110. These are behind the 6.0L and 6.4L Power Strokes. In 2005, the gas F-series got them. Yall have different trannys. There are two ways to take care of your 5r110 aka Torqshift. Do a full flush at 30k miles with an external filter change or drain the pan and refill it every 10k miles. Both seem to be effective maintenance for these trannys

Y'all have different trannies. First hint that it could be different is more then likely his just says "O/D" by the gear shift button on yours it should say "tow/haul". Second, if y'all were to press those respective buttons both of y'all should notice that your trannies act differently. His will just lock out overdrive(hence O/D), and yours won't lock out O/D, but extend shift points higher up and it will provide for engine braking(poor man's jake brake) which puts your tranny ahead of the game as far as his tranny goes.

That's what they say. Not to sure if I agree with that sentiment, but that's what they say.

Nah......if you get along with your pops as I do (it sounds like a good relationship) STICK IT TO 'EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me and my pops although we don't see each other as much as I'd like too, get along great.

I'm turning 38 this year, he'll be 64.....I still remind him, when we are chilin' over a couple of beers, of the day I finally beat him arm wrestling. I think it was the best day in BOTH OF OUR LIVES.

Take Care
Joe
