I've been looking at replacing my front bumper for quite a while now since it's got the typical twist to it now, and it's just kinda beat up in general. I'm not looking for a brush guard or anything special, just a regular bumper. I was looking online and I found some black replacements for under $100, and since my truck is all black and white it would work, but it's the smooth one, it doesn't have the holes. Cosmetically that doesn't bother me, I'm just curious if that has any effect on performance or not. I've seen people plug the holes with fog lights, etc. and I know the F150s didn't have the holes. I wouldn't think it would make a big difference, but some people on here know a lot more about these trucks than I do.
i replaced mine with a ranch hand, when the truck was new. actually looked at it about 3 weeks ago, and it looks new. had less than 100 miles when replaced. has been wraped and stored in my garage since. my truck is a 97 f250 HD. i am in dallas TX. do not know how the IM works on here. if interested let me know or explain the IM. i am new to this site, awesome place, wish i found it many years ago.
Built my own bumper out of 1/4 five inch tubing weighs about two hundred pounds and look mean the deer really get the hell out of the way now along with the eco boxes getting the way of a truly economical vehicle
Good question. I woudn't think it would make too much difference on a stock rig. You could cover your holes in your existing bumper with some cardboard and tape for a while to see if it makes a difference.
looking at the bumpers, it seems the holes are for extra air flow and cooling, since our truck are so efficient at cooling i dont see how it could really hurt anything to go with the smooth bumper.
