I have been on and off of this forum for about 6 months now asking questions about a couple trucks that I have wanted to buy But I havent been able to scrape the money together for anything. Well I finally graduated from high school this past week and I have recieved a fair amount of money and some from a life insurance policy my grandfather left me when he passed away. I have about $4000 to play with and was looking at this 94 f250 7.3 powerstroke. It needs a little work with the brakes and paint matching but Justin (the owner) says it runs fine.
Anybody have any suggestions for me as to what to look for other than the typical beater signs like mud above the framerails or bad shifts.
Oh and this will be used to tow my jeep which I am trying desperatley to get off the road because it decided it wants to be a trail rig.
check the leaf spring hangers, shackles whatever you want to call them, since those are a common thing to get rusted out, and arent fun to replace either. other than that from those pics in the ad it looks to be a fairly decent rig, thats got an engine that should give you at least another 100k miles if you properly maintain it.
And yes it is fun. Doing 6 wheel burnouts when leaving the school parking lot is a blast. But it has downsides like blowing 3 pistons through the oil pan and sending all the rods through the heads when he lost control of it. Not a very fun day.
