First, is there anywhere I can get new brackets that work with my huge rear tow bumper for my 89? Second, my right window motor stopped working, but usually it will stop working for a few days and then start working again. The motor was really slow and weak; is it dead for good? Or is it common to have shorts in the wires going to the motor? .....I remember jiggling the wires when my door panel was off to the window motor when it was deciding to stop working but it didn't make a difference.
you can look at the universal brackets that are available... or the ones at lmc. can't say if the will work with your "huge tow bumper".
I've had a couple of electrical issues with my truck...broken wires, bad connectors... so you could have a short or something. Best way to see is to test if you have power to the motor... a test light usually works.

The window motors have plastic drive gears that disintegrate as the age, EBAY has rebuild kits for the gear box and new motor/gearboxes for reasonable prices............Motor replacement is a easy job.
The motors them selves are very quiet, you have to put your ear right there to hear them when they are not turning the gearbox and moving the window regulator.
