I started having trouble with my truck (2004 F150) when accelerating. It takes off very slow although the RPM's are still shooting up. At about 50 mph is shakes pretty bad and then settles down but then continues to have a little rattle throughout the drive. I was told it could be the fuel filter so I replaced it and it did nothing.
Could this be bad spark plugs? If so, anyone know of a good place to get directions on how to change them? Got a quote from a mechanic and he wanted $550.
Oh and please dont mention the transmission word? That is last thing I need this to be.
Sorry about that. I have a 4.2L V6 engine. The truck has about 112,000 miles on it. Its a 2004 F150 Ext. Cab Heritage Edition. Its an early 2004 edition, so its basically a 2003. Didnt get the new body style or larger engine.
There's a good chance it could need a tune up. I'd get a code scan run on it to see if there are any codes lurking in there and that should point you in the right direction.
