I got an SCT a few weeks ago and have tried 87 tow, 87 econ, 87 performance and 93 performance. I drove the truck from central WV to Washington DC over the 4th of July on 93 performance and the onboard mpg computer stated 21.6 mpg's when I arrived. It was hand verifired by 21.2. I came back (FAST) on 87 econ and got 19.8. My truck performs the best on 87 performance, as it acutally seems to acclerate faster on 87 perf than on 93 perf. I no it shouldn't be so, but my wife even drove and stated that it had a lot better throttle repsonse on 87 performance. This was the best money I've spent so far on my truck
You must have a two wheel drive truck. I just took a trip to canada with my leveled 4x4 with 285/70 tires and the best I got on the road was 17.2 mpg. that was also driven at 65 mph. obviously wind resistance hurts fuel mileage.
It hit the rev limiter on my 87 econ setting only going from 1st to 2nd gear when I hit the gas. Was no big problem he sent me a new tune through email and uploaded it to my programmer and no problems since. It was probably hitting cause probably not many people go full throttle in 87 economy setting. My 91 settings didnt have a problem
I just hooked upi my X3 yesterday and I already like it. On the programmer is the datalogging option. Could someone please explain what it does and how I should use it?
Also, I increased the shift firmness by 10% on my pickup? Is it ok to do that or does anyone have any reason not to?
i also wondered about that i increased my firmness by 10% also and really like how it shifts. but it does make the belt squeak just a little when it shifts at wide open throttle. maybe mike himself could tell us??? anyhow i love this tuner and i got one for my friend and he loves it too.
Good info guys this will help me narrow done my choice of the 2 programmers. My question is though in the next year or 2 I am wanting to get a Ford super duty diesel truck. I'm really leaning towards a F-350 dually a 2005-2007 year model can the edge or sct work on my 2005 f-150 as well as the diesel?
No I dont think it will work. The tunes for the f150 are maxed out for that engine. I dont know why you would wana do that cause the diesels you can get alot more horsepower out of then a gas motor. I think the f150 is like 45 or 50 hp and a diesel you can get 100 hp or more if you got some work done. Thats why I dont think it could be done

Ok I was asking because a local shop in my area shaid I could use the sct in a gas or diesel truck
I plan on doing a SI/DO Magnaflow muffler with 3" SS tips, and a CAI....thats it for performance mods. Is it worth it to go with the SCT live wire with custom tunes, or will the Edge Evolution suffice? Either way, I'd like to have the display, but dont NEED it, so the Xcal3 would be my last choice. What do you all think?

If you get a diesel talk to DP Tuner they make custom tunes for diesels. I had a 2001 powerstroke. Whatever you do do not get an off the shelf tuner for you diesel. They will make a difference but they are can tunes and arent worth crap. get a custom tune from a reputable dealer like DP(Jody). You will be much happier and spanking all the same trucks with shelf tuners. Plus you will probably pay less for more.
My brother got an 05 powerstroke a year ago and shortly after purchased the Triple Dog Bully Dog for his pickup. There were no custom tunes just the canned settings that came with it. It has three settings, tow, performance and extreme. On performance which is the second setting, that thing ran a 6.5 second 0-60 (keep in mind it is a F250 CC 4x4 diesel). We couldnt dig all the way into it from the start or we would have sat there rolling smoke off the tires. I have driven that thing and beat every pickup and many sports cars. Now even after I got my X3 for my 06 f150 with the 5.4, I still dont think I could stand a chance on his lowest tow setting. Just a little information about it.
