Another avenue to pursue in no brake problems is the dial on the top of the controller that adjusts the intensity of the brakes - common sense would say the dial turned towards you would increase - but it is AWAY from you increases. Also common sense would say the lever on the front of the controller would over ride the sensitivity and operate the brakes fully when moved...........this is NOT the case. I have a 2001 and when your grandson gets into the Big Red Truck and plays with everything - you might want to check this instead of going thru fuses and relays like I did wondering why the brakes worked last time and they didn't this time. This is a simple check and if pushing the dial away from you now gives you brakes they were set to low respond by some source that might not have been you! :-)

Just had this with the 2001 F350 and Tekonsha Voyager. No light on the unit when trailer connected, but when pressing brakes 12V at the plug going to the trailer. However, pulled off tekonsha unit and bench tested on the battery and blue wire wasn't feeding anything and no light when applying brake manually. I had a P3 in australia and I changed out the defective voyager for one. I like the changeable brake boost levels and the fact it basic fault finds when there's a challenge. Worth the extra $100ish imho.

I'll second the electrical contact cleaner on the plugs - saved my as a couple a times when stuff wasn't working hooking up trailers.

Just to add. Keep a tube of dia grease in your panel if you trailer.

Usually for me about a two month turn and I lube up both sides with the di and generally have no problems.

I usually find at a stop light with no brake help and a lil wiggle on the nine pin, everythings happy again.
