92 f-150 with 94 motor no start
I have a 92 f-150 302 and i changed the motor recently which i got out of a 94 f-150. the 94 has the 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 with roller lifters and my old motor has the 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. Before i put the motor in i put a comp cam, lifters valve springs and headman headers which i soldered on a piece for the o2 sensor. when i try to start the motor it just fires a bit no running. if i put gas in the intake it fires right up i test the fuel pressure on the rail and it seems fine how can i test to see if the injectors are the problem or the signal to the injectors. the 94 truck was sitting for about a year before i put it in my 92.

the pcm is out of the 92 i was going to see if i could keep using that one because the 92 has the map sensor only no maf and the 94 truck has a maf sensor so i figured i would have to change the engine comp harness and put the maf sensor in if i ran the 94 pcm. i have tried the 94 pcm and does the exact same thing. Playing with it more today it seems to be slowly starting to fire better i am wondering if the injectors are just plugged up from sitting for that year and half. the engine harness is 94. can i just hook up a 12v light bulb to the injector plug if i dont have a noid light

So lets get this straight, you are using the '92 EEC and engine harness right? You don't have any '94 wiring on the motor at all? This is the only way it will work, you can't mix bits and pieces of the two systems because the '92 fires the injectors in batches and the '94 is sequential. The only thing you should have wired to match the '94 are the plug wires.

Yes that was the air temp sensor, in '94 it was moved to the air box. To be fully compatable with your '92 computer you want this sensor in the intake, it will read quite a bit lower in the airbox (actual ambient temp) so the motor won't reach closed loop. You could drill and tap the '94 lower for the sensor or swap on the '92 lower.

After changing the engine harness to a 92 motor started right up thanks alot. I installed new lifters, vavlve springs, comp cam with a little bit more lift than stock and headman headers but the motor has little power almost worse than my old motor that had 400 000KM's on it. if i set the timing to 10 degrees it starts and runs no prob but very little power struggles even just to go up a hill but if i advance the timing a bunch it has closer to normal power i've seen out of a 302 but still not great. my check engine light is on and i have a code resder on order but wont be here for a couplw weeks. any thoughts
