So my 95 F150 is going to be what a truck should be. No pickup is complete without a CD radio. I'm looking for suggestions on where to put the antenna. My truck doesn't have the silver western style mirrors, so mounting it to the mirrors is out. Picture would be great if you have them. Thanks very much.
use a magnet mount on the roof, run the cable under the cab, and through the rubber over the cab mount. when in parking garage, just throw it in the bed. other thing I did was to put twins on the side of the tool box years ago. got tired of takeing them off to go in the parking garage though
Mount it on the bed, take some spare sheet metal and make your own mount. if you have a toolbox, you can mount it to that using three holes and a little piece of diamond plate (you can buy these pre-drilled and bent from radioshack if you want.) just get a whip antenna and you don't have to worry about taking it off to go under stuff, I have an 8 foot antenna on my 08 tundra and I take it in parking garages all the time.
I got a 10 ft whip antenna on my toolbox. The closer to the center of the truck, the better signal you'll get do to sound wave stuff that is over my head. The smart guy in my family told me that, so that's what I did and I guess it seems to be working good. I ran the wire through the tool box, drilled a small hole in the back, ran it between the cab and the bed and then put it through one of my cab's drain holes underneath. The whip seems to get the best signal out of my whole gang of friends who use them, as I can normally hear more than they can. My trucks powersteering is out and I had to leave it at my friends house, when I get it back, I can take some pics of how I mounted it to the box. Lastly, all my friends all think that the better the cb itself the better off you are, when in reality, if you have a small amount to spend, get a cheaper cb and a real good antenna.
I just bought a 62 inch Wilson 5000 baseloaded whip, side bed mount, a Cobra 29 LTD with BlueTooth, and a 100 Watt police PA speaker. I'll be sure to give a full review on it once I get it in.
Cobra is selling one that has bluetooth now so you can make calls, receive calls, dial last made calls, etc. Sound comes through the CB and you talk through the mic.
