Article says they guy has a V8 that will go 200 mph, or get 110 mpg, but not at the same time, and that he has a 20 year old Mustang, and that someone ordered some engines from him.
I already have a V8 that will get that MPG. All I have to do is run it up to 110 mph, and then slip the trans into neutral. I get well over 110 mpg for quite a ways, even more with a downhill.
Oddly, I've had 4 cylinders, 6s, and even my 300 will get close to that figure using the same technique.
My all-time record is the 289 4V in my Mustang. I was able to get astronomical mileage on one leg of a trip out of Flagstaff AZ. I estimate, based on projections, and depending on temperature, I got over 10,000 MPG.
Im of the opinion that something the size and weight and shape of a mustang is not gonna get 110 mpg unless you drop it from a bomber.
You know the guy is FOS when you read his write up - he boosted engine efficiency 400% to 32% overall, meaning todays engines are 8% - try todays engines are 30-35%.
A diesel may be 30-35%, gasoline engines are still 20-30% efficient tops. 8% would be more along the lines of some ancient 3:1 compression flat head engine.
