Removed radiator
took to radiator shop the guy took one look and said no good.
the core was sealed off on several areas
will pick up good one tomorrow used and tested.
Well good luck hopefully that takes care of it... On a side note, was tinkering on the ford and noticed a lot of my fins were folded up blocking airflow through the rad. So I started straightening them out. As I was doing this I remembered back to my childhood (truck used to be my old mans) and I used to sit out there playin on the truck and I would squish the fins on the rad cuz it felt neat....man after 2 hours straightening them I wanted to go back 20 years and kick my own a$$ lol.
Sounds like you are on your way to a repair. Please post your results after you have installed your new radiator and have had a chance to test.Very interested in the repair!
Good job! Let us know how it works after you put the regulator back in.Will be curious about high speed cooling, and what it runs at in traffic and around town.Again, good job!
Tried to let sit for awhile but here we go again.
replaced tstat with 195
ran same course late last night 190 steady with ac on always
stopped at drivethru to get burger w/ ac on ran up to 205
back on road back to 190
test speed may top out at 55mph
will test at turnpike speeds later
as I test system trying to see if it will heat up
from stop sign floorboard gas pedal
the ac turns off like a vacuum shift in the ac system
do I have yet another problem to look for?
Sounds like you have cured the overheating problem.Sounds as if you have a vacuum leak to your Heating/cooling system.Might look for hoses that are dislodged under hood around firewall or vacuum cannister area.If you don't see something glaring, you might have a look at the lines thru the firewall to your controls.May have a hole in a line, rubbed spot.cracked connector.Try and get a vacuum line diagram from this site,or online @autozone.You will have a way to trace the lines and connections then.Post back and let us know what you discover.
I also see that a poster that goes by ******* has posted to someone about being able to locate vacuum diagrams. You can ask him about a diagram,he will want your truck/engine information.Have seen his posts on another site, very knowing and reliable source.Good Luck.Sure others will help you in the right direction from this site as well.

I remember doing this on window air conditioners as a kid. I would push them in, right my name with a stick, etc. I too realize what a putz I was.
didnt read the whole thread but if your radiator cap doesnt seal properly u will overheat. had the same prob on a 16 hour drive. went through everything only to realize my cap had a crack. bs!!

Great call!
Two caps craped out of me before, the rubber seal was all jacked up.Condition of the rad doesn't sound good either.
Cheap easy fix if thats what it is.
