S ROD Tranny problem
Hi Fellas, Coming to the pros with this question as i can't seem to get answers anywhere else. Have picked up a couple of the srod 4speed o/d trannies that were available in various ford products in the early 80's. With these aluminum case trannies, i don't imagine they will take a lot of horsepressure but for a light street rod or pickup truck they would be pretty good woth some tall gears. The problem i have with them is that the shifter is a bit "floppy" which sometimes creates problems with spirited shifting( never quite sure if you actually are getting the gear you aim for). I have been looking for an easy cure for the shifter woes but haven't yet found anyone with any experience in tightening things up in these. Any replies or suggestions would be appreciated. Also has anyone had any experience with these failing? Thanks pops
