Brakes

It's time to replace brakes. After 185,XXX miles I think I am going to have to replace the rear rotors. Last time I went with cheap Wagner rotors for the front (replaced originals at 97k) and they have been fine, but I'm looking for replacement rotors and pads that might decrease stopping distance also. I don't want to spend a boat load of cash...just reasonable prices for a notable increase in performance. Any experience with EBC rotors. I know I have heard good stuff in the past about some cryo rotors. What do you guys like?

Different rear rotors aren't going to do a whole lot for reducing stopping distance. I would get the best ones you can afford.

Front rotors are a different story and different rotors can improve performance. However, most of the performance difference comes from the pad.

This is correct the front rotors do most of the work.I have the EBC rotors on the front of my Jeep they're pretty good but noticed a little bit of a noise when applying the brakes. It's not loud or anything,I think it has to do with the slots in the rotors.

I guess I should have been more clear. I will replace front and rear, it's just that the rears are pretty much a requirement at this point. I want a good combination that can give me decreased stopping distance. I would love to replace my calipers with SSBC 8 piston calipers, but just not in the budget right now. I went that route with my Mustang and nearly threw myself through the windshield during my first panic stop. Never thought hitting the brakes would make me smile as much as hitting the skinny pedal.

I just replaced my front brakes with Powerslot Cryos and Hawk pads. This combo is highly recommended on this site.

I also bought Hawk pads for the rear and plan to just get the rear rotors turned. Haven't tore into it yet though.

Some pics of the brake replacement are in this write up....
