Cooling problem

I have a 1994 f250 and I just put a radiator in the truck not to long ago the problem I am having is the radiator keeps becoming low due to that the antifreeze flows into the side reservoir but does not flow back into the radiator once the truck cools down. I also have a small leak by the thermostat would this cause this problem or is it some thing else.

fix the leak, then replace the radiator cap.

Also check the hose going to the side reservoir where it is attached to the radiator cap neck.
If you have a leak there it will not work, put a small hose clamp on it.
