Hey everyone, I am pretty new on here and I have a 2001 F-250 with the 5.4L V8. I want to give my truck a little more *****, but when it comes to performance i am very lost with all the products out there, can you help me? So far i have installed a K&N Gen II FIPK into the truck next i want an exhaust but the listing i see are for the F-150 5.4L or the F-250 V10 not much for the f-250 5.4L? how do exhausts vary betwen the v8 and the v10? I would also love to put a tuner into it, any good ones out there? Thanks everyone i realy appreciate it.
get yourself to a muffler shop and they can mandrel bend u a custom exhaust for cheap. pick out a muffler and your set. and a lot of guys like the diablo sport programmer here. theres a sponsor on here, think its troyer performance?? that can give u a custom tune. dont buy an off the shelf programmer as its for a variety of drivers, get a custom tune for sure. but gears are the best bang for the buck. get yourself a set of 4.56 gears itll move quicker!
thanks appreciate it, i was looking at magnaflow and MBRP exhuasts i was looking for a stainless steel exhaust and those are the two im trying to decide between. Where can you pick up the new gears and what exactly does putting new gears in do? what is the difference between 3.73 and 4.10 and the 4.56? how much benefit is there from intsalling a tuner into my truck rather then just having an intake and a perfromance exhaust? sorry for all the questions im not knowledgable about all the perfromance products.
Magnaflows are pretty quiet on the fords, I was told we have 4 catalytic converters. I went with a cherry bomb, single in dual out with 4 inch tips out the back. It sounds good, but did not notice any increase in power. Cost me around 300 bucks.
Keep in mind with a custom tune you can have it built around your needs/wants and all the mods will be maximized to the trucks performance along with the speedo being correct after a gear change.
