does anyone know if an 86 f150 355 ring and pinion, will fit into a 83 f100 355 rear axle housing, and hook back up to the 83 axle shafts? just wondering if theres a difference between dana and spicer etc. i dont know how to tell one manufacter from another.

If you have no bolts on the rear of the pumpkin, then you have a Ford 9 inch housing, and you need Ford 9 inch parts. If you have bolts and a sheetmetal cover on the rear of the pumpkin, then you have a Ford 8.8 rear, and you need Ford 8.8 parts.
If you find they are different, you can bolt the whole thing in place, but there might be minor differences in the driveshaft length, and you need to check the bolt pattern since you have a f100.
