Possible TPS failure?

I have been fighting an issue with the '96 PS stalling. It always starts but dies like 3-4 times before I even get out of the drive way. This only happends with the pedal depressed a little. It does not die idling or when cruising in steady speed. It also has a tendency to die when I let off the pedal coasting to a stop. Sometimes it feels like it dies, but only falls down to idle. If I push the pedal further it doesn't respond at all, but if I let off the pedal it responds when I get on it again.
After reading some posts on here about TPS I wanted to test the TPS. I was not able to measure it when it was hooked up-couldn't het to the terminals with the pegs. I pulled the pedal assembly and hooked up a ohm meter an tested it numerous of times. With the pedal not depressed it was reading about 3,5 ohm. When slowly depressing the pedal/ turning the TPS the readings always quits around 2,8 ohm and comes back when going further. Also when releasing the pedal quick the readings falls on its face for a wery short time.
So: Do you think this is a TPS problem? Any chance to fix? Seems to me that the TPS is a closed unit. Any help will be appreciated!

No I haven't changed the CPS. I wanted to try that first but have gotten two in a row from "Standard" that I can't get to work. No start with them. Put the old one back in and it fires right away. I find that two new ones won't work pretty strange thou... I am awaiting a Ford CPS. The issue with stalling have gotten worse from when it started in February. The day it first started dying frequently it also started shifting strange between first and second gear. Sometimes hard and other times it needs to be played with to shift to second gear. Can a bad TPS affect shifting?

At the top right of the main page for this forum you will find the search this forum button.
Click and search for TPS. There are a bunch of threads addressing the issues. I would have put up some links but there are to many. Just as well you give them a look.
No experience with them myself. Good hunting!
