im tryin to gear up to do this and collect the axle for the swap i foudn a 77? that im gettin the axle out of cost 75$ for everything i want off of it. My question is what is the down side to this swap? is there one? i use my truck for pullin horses around + other stuff am i goin to lose my anything from what i can pull or will i get some extra with this. Also i have tryed to do as much readin as i can i got more to do but dose anyone have a half @$$ parts list that im goin to need for this swap or is it something im goin to have to just wing? part form this part from that. thxs for any help

You might want to see if this guy is any where close to you, you both could try to save some cash by doing some trading. He is doing the opposite of you going from D44 to a TTB.

You are aware that the 77-79 has different (narrower) spring spacing and it's not a bolt in deal on an 80+ truck....... Don't you?
Just wanted to elaborate on this one, stosh. I did an SAS on my '83 F-150 a couple years ago, and it was 99% bolt on for me. The only thing I had to fabricate was a track bar bracket and brackets for mounting the Cage Off Road radius arms to the frame. (I used radius arms for an early Bronco which were designed for the boxed frame rails. Cage Off Road has since come out with a kit that bolts onto the '80's frame rails) With the right parts, it can be an easy swap if you have moderate skills.
