my orig boards 9yrs old from ford need some attention. i was thinking of taking my grinder and a hvy duty 40grit pad and grind the rust off. they have, what looks like plastic coating on over the steel. then ill paint them. what kind of paint should i use? i was pricing up new ones,, 300-400. glad i got them when i did!!
i don't know if you would need to paint them, but to prevent it from happening again, why not try putting herculiner or rhinoline on them?
also while you have them off and are worried about rust, check where it mounts up. i did mine and to put my running boards on it looks like they take a body plug out and leave it out. lone and behold mud, water, salt, and anything under the sun collected under there and rusted a fist sized hole through the rocker. just a thought good luck.
