no speedo

Got a 98 explorer, the speedo just quit as I was driving it. Any ideas

It could be a blown fuse. There s a VSS sensor that tells the vehicle how fast it is going and when to shift, etc. If the transmission is shifting strange, then this is the most likely culprit. If the vehicle is shifting fine, then the problem may be in the instrument cluster.
