460 Manual Trany?
Does anyone know what manual trans will work with a 1979 460 out of a Lincoln. It already has a C6, but my truck is currently a 3 speed and I would prefer to keep it a standard.

I just put a Clark 5 speed OD with granny behind my 460. Check for differences in the Lincoln motor. I have heard some bad stories. To go to a manual you will need a bellhousing. Very few 460s came with a manual. L&L sells conversion kits. I paid about $600 just for the flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disc, bearings, and spacer plate. I have a cast iron bellhousing from a 400M. It bolts right up. However you will need the spacer plate. This locates the starter. The flywheel will be a 168 tooth one. I had to beg L&L to sell me the plate. Ford does not make it anymore. Pray that the Lincoln crank is drilled for a pilot bearing. If not, more hassle. 1979 was when they changed from internally balanced to externally balanced but I can't remember which one 79 was. Before was internal, after was external. Make sure.
