Melting front grill

What could cause the front grille to melt? I bought this truck 2 weeks ago and noticed it. I figured no big deal, but I got the oasis report and saw the previous owner already had the grill replaced. Ill post pics this afternoon.

Has this happened to any of you?

Anything else on this oasis report I should be worried about?

Parked too close to a fire? To melt a grill would take a heck of a lot of heat if the heat were to come from inside the engine compartment. Can't see how that'd be possible. Curious to see what others have to say.

I have this melted spot on my grille. I think it was from the PO (construction company). I figured they had a plow on the front of the truck and the wire was fed through the grille and must have gotten hot. My oasis never had any mention of electrical problems nor do i have any now but it's the only thing I can think of. I covered it up with a billet grille so I can't snap a pic of it. The melted part is just a stripe looking bubbling on one of the horizontal bars next to the logo. I've seen other superduty trucks with plow kits on them and noticed a thick wire in about the same spot.

You can get the Oasis report in the Superduty section of this forum. I have gotten one from one of my local Ford Dealerships on a truck I was interested in buying, but the other dealership in town said it was private info that you had to be the owner of the vehicle to get it. I said, "How is one to make an informed decision on a purchase, isn't that what these are made for?" They claimed it was for their records and the owners only??? Whatever. That is why we have this site.

How about a block heater cord fire,or one that shorted out.we have seen that on here.An it showed a long cranking issue,so he probably kept it pluged in over a long period of time.

Block heater cord shouldn't be anywhere near the grille.

This is a prime reason why you should plug them into a GFI protected outlet.

How about not even using them???
It's just a starting aid, not a means to keep the engine warm!!!
