News from the world of twitter ( a place I've yet to visit)

First 'twinjury'

A jogger was twittering to his office mates while jogging before work. Don't know his name, but possibly it was A. Moron. Anyway, he was so engrossed in tweeting that he ran into a tree branch.

Military tweets

Some parts of the military are campaigning to use Twitter as a means to communicate military news to the public. I have no opinion on the matter, but there was a comment posted after the article. Seems that the commenter was in the military, and he us forbidden from using Twitter as it was regarded as 'inappropriate'. Guess he won't be getting the latest army news tweets.

I've yet to visit twitter either but it sounds pretty lame - basically sending out 140 character updates about what you are up to.

But.........

to the teens and young adults, sitting on the internet and talking about trucks or participating in the "June Anything Goes BS Thread" probably sounds pretty lame.

As for the jogger who ran into the tree, I hope it hurt really bad.

I'm up in the air regarding military member use of Twitter or Facebook or any of the other social networking sites. On duty, they have little to no practical use and can only lead to accidental or unintentional release of information that shouldn't be disseminated. Off duty, I have no problem with it being used by members and in fact I use FB myself to keep in touch while I am on drill weekends or annual tours. As long as the users know the limits of what can be posted, all should be fine.

Agreed, I love facebook. That's as far as I'm going with the internet. My kids were laughing at me like a 47 year old man shouldn't be on facebook.

If they would think about it, it probably makes more sense for us to be on FB than them. The kids are "reconnecting" with classmates they haven't seen since history class that morning while we (at least in my case) are reconnecting with people we haven't seen in 20 or 30 years....I've met up online with Navy friends from Tech School in 1985 that I thought I'd never hear from again.....

Twitter and all other "social networking" sites have been blocked for Military network use since 1999.

But with the proliferation of "smart" type phones, nobody needs access to the network anymore to do email, FB, etc.

I was on a training exercise lately and there were photos taken during the exercise on Facebook within minutes of something happening.

That kind of stuff is a little harder to control.

This the type of info that the military needs to get thier hands around, not everyone has a need to know everything.

Does your avatar ever get tired? I think its a bullchyt av because no Ford could handle that much repetitive action and still function.
