I recently did the front brakes on my Excursion. I used Hawk Superduty pads and Power slotted rotors. Everything went well and they stopped good bet every once in a while I would get a shimmy when braking like when your rotor is warpped but it wouldn't do this everytime. I also got a slight pull to the left when braking.
I took both sides apart and cleaned the slide pins back out and regreased them. Still had the same problem. Two days ago, I started getting smoke coming out of the front wheel well when braking hard. From reading on here I knew it was probably the caliper. I went to the Ford dealership to get one but they didn't have one. The parts guy sent me to their supplier, Ryan's Automotive, and I got a loaded caliper for $92 including tax. (But with a $50 core that I got back today.) These where loaded with new slide pins, new pad spring/clip thingies, and new pads. (which I didn't use as I just bought the Hawks.)
The box said Motorcraft and the part was stamped "Ford". I couldn't believe it was only $92. Slapped it all back together then bled the line a little and took it for a test drive. All is back to normal. No more shimmy, not pulling anymore and seems to be braking even harder.
I was going to go ahead and get the left side and replace it for only $92 but they didn't have one in stock.
