In the July 2009 Consumer Reports they compared a 2009 Ranger with a Lexus RX350, Infinity FX35, Chevy Traverse and Kia Borrego. It got criticized for not having the same fit, finish and comfort as the SUV's but was praised for the bed capacity. Beam me up and no kidding. It is a truck for cryin out loud. Oh yeah-no side curtain airbags either.
I see that during long term of use ricers dissapeare first. we see old US cars still running here, when so popular 10-20 years ago Japanes cars dissapeared. Like we still can see made in 70s-80s old Soviet trucks and Mercedes cars. There were Opel cars popular 10-15 years ago, and what we see? where they are now? on JYs. My friends '86 aero is still on road!

And your winters will definitely separate the weak vehicles from the strong ones!
but to be trully, there are tought Japanese cars too. Syberia and Far east of Russia love Japanese cars and they import them from Japan with ships (they generally have cars with stear on right, I tried to drive RHD car, and belive me, no so signtifical difference). They know what models to purchase to have no winter problems.
Goverment tried to stop RHD cars import, and limit US cars import (becouse of different headlamp standards) but they got actions of protest and did nothing.
We all understend here, that Japan and USA are closer to Vladivostok then Moscow ))).
i could personally care less about air bags, wish you could "opt-out" when getting a vehicle. dont like the pats-key thing either. i find it hard to believe anyone would take crash-test results seriously. i dont buy a vehicle based on what could happen in a wreck. if i was that concerned about gerbage like that id have a '78 new yorker or some other tank with a frame and real bumpers.
