help with studder

hey guys my 01 5.4 sometimes has a bad studder mostly around 40mph, but if I put some of the injector cleaner in then after a little bit of driving it seems to go away, any thoughts or anyone been through this before?

Thanks

How many miles are on the truck? How old are the spark plugs?

If you're not getting a code, it's probably torque converter shudder. Changing the trans fluid almost always cures it.

Could also be high load misfire. Not knowing when or if the pugs were changed, I would do that now. New Motorcraft plugs should help it a lot but may not correct it completely. With that many miles on it and possibly the original spark plugs, one or two of the COPs may be weak too.

If the plugs are changed and you still have a COP problem, I would expect the misfire to move up in the speed range to around 55 mph.

By the way, changing the transmission fluid like Joe said is a good idea too. Good luck!

I would change the plugs. There is a very good thread by Racerguy on how to change spark plugs in the engines. It is a good read before tackling this job. Good luck!
