Thermometer accuracy

Most new vehicles have thermometers now. I was just wondering how accurate they are. The other day the news said high 80's, my truck was 92 - 93. News would be more general whereas the truck would be more specific - correct?

I have found mine to be pretty close to banks, or other temperature displays! I know when I first start the truck, it reads high and then comes to a normal tempature after a few minutes.

Mine is good from 32 to 90, after that, it goes wacky.

Mine is generally within 1-2 degrees of the banks and places with outdoor temp readings.
