When my truck gets to opearting temp my transmission will not engauge into drive. I can shift to Low gear and it will then engauge. Once in low and I shift to OD and everything works great. I tow a 27' 5th wheel with no problems. Do I need a new trany or is there something I can do to fix this problems myself?
Mine does this sometimes when it's cold but I get nothing. No 1, 2 D OD not even reverse. I let it sit there warming up and then after a minute of so it's ok. It did it once right after Jody threw on the tuner for me and twice since. It has a bad input shaft according to John Woods.
I had the problem with my truck, but it did it for reverse. I just got my truck back today from the trans shop. They did a complete rebuild with a new torque converter.
Actually my block plate broke, which required the trans to come out, so it worked out ok for.
Unfortunately I don't have the resources to pull my own trans so BTS and John Woods were out of the question. Atleast the shop I took it to is very reputable. Hopefully it lasts, I don't do any heavy hauling.
