Yes Tom. I think you should gain some experience with normal distillation first.

Thanks Don. I'll give it a shot. Haven't heard from Phydeaux 88 yet??? I suspect something bad after reading his last post.

OK Don. Here's the latest. I removed 7 gallons of glycerol from the 40 gallon batch and heated the Bio to 190 deg. The methanol ran out in a steady stream (I guess the condenser is working). I recovered approx 1/3 gallon (I was expecting more). I was going to run it through your setup but I was afraid with the high temp and the pressure I may cause a problem so I pumped it directly into the magnesol tank and will mix it tomorrow. Kind of tough on the Harbor Freight pump to pump at that high a temp. Was going to let cool but was afraid of sucking in moisture. I still want to get your system going. This was VERY time consuming.(took about 4 hours to heat to 190 deg.)
On another note. Are you still moving all your crap to the new place?
Take care
Tom

Sounds like your finally getting it to work OK. Most of the Methanol is in the Glycerol. With 40 gallons of bio you will get less than 3/4 of a gallon of Methanol so you are getting close ( you won't get it all out). Now you need to try recover the Methanol from your glycerol ( you should get 20-30%)

What "crap"? Everything I have are "treasures"! Yes everything has been moved to the new place...........Still haven't heard from PHY, sure hope he is OK.

Keep at it Tom, you are showing progress!

Take care buddy.
Don.
