Hey all, I'm new here and hoping someone has some insight...
I have a 2004 Ranger and there have been some issues with it not starting. Basically, I drive it for a while, shut it off but it will not start back up. At first it will start up, but immediatly die, you can actually watch the RPM gauge fall and then it just dies and starts shaking really bad.
The weird thing is that if you leave it for a few hours it will start fine. Its just that it won't start after it has been running for a bit.
Today I drove it for 20 minutes to test it out, got home turned it off and turned the key to start it back up and nothing.
Any ideas? The ford dealer inisted that it was the inertia switch and replaced that but it did not fix the problem.
The battery seems to be fine and the started seems to be working as it is turning over. Its just like its not getting any fuel. You think the Ford dealer would have checked the fuel pump/filter though.
I suggest putting a pressure gauge on the fuel rail. Fuel injected cars usually dont have vapor lock problems because of the higher fuel rail pressures, but anyway it's a place to start.
