Haven't been driving the stroker as much now that we are done planting. I got in it this morning and noticed that the headliner is starting to fall. It's mainly on the drivers side but there is a small pocket on the passenger side. Any ideas on how to fix this? I guess I could live with it but it looks extremely tacky, especially when you have the windows down and the wind is blowing it.
I've seen tack like things at the parts store. But using tacks to fix something thats tacky doesn't really appeal. An upholstery shop would be best. Google headliner kits. There is a bunch. Don't cut it down. Just remove it until you fix it. All sorts of foam stuff will constantly fall on your head.
I can't remember if I was reading a thread on here or psn but it was saying that there is no great way to repair it, the glue is just absorbed and make the head liner hard because the pad is dry rotted. I'll see if I can pull it up, I won't be able to past a link cuz I'm on my phone but I'll be able to tell you were it is.
if you can get the headliner material from a supplier its easy to replace. you just take out the complete healiner which is glue to a piece of cardboard material. you pull the old material off and scotch brite all the the old foam off. once you get it removed you cut your new piece to some what of the deminsion that you need (you can always trim off more in the end). use the 3m spray adhesive and spray the foam side of the headliner and the carboard side that you are adhearing it to (do a 1/4 of the headliner at time with glue to ensure good ahering). what a couple of min until the glue is a little tacky and star at one end with material rolled back. lay it down slow and smooth it out with your hand as you go to make sure there is no bumbs. once you have glue the whole headliner down trim off excess material to ensure you have about an 1/2 of material to roll around the edge and glue down. then reinstall headliner. hope this helps.
Thanks for reminding me, mine is doing the same thing. I tried shooting some spray adhesive in there between the fabric and foam, but it didn't hold for long. The foam part is just too old and weak and quickly separates again.
i am in the midst of replacing my headliner. i have the headliner board out and all the foam removed. i am just waiting on a free afternoon to put the new headliner foam back on. i went with stockinteriors for carpet and headliner and i am very impressed. their products seem very high quality and i thought the prices were very reasonable. the headliner kit was right at $60 for the large kit and i didnt need the extra yard of fabric.
i was nervous about that too. i think you are supposed to pull the rear window but i didnt wanna fool with it. so i squeezed it through the drivers front door

ok thank you because my headliner also has a pocket and a tear Im going a try.
Thanks for all the help guys. I'm thinking that I am going to go with the kit from stock interiors as I don't know of any local upolstery shops.
So how difficult is it to removal the carboard and headliner? Sounds like it can squeeze through one of the doors. Is there any further information about replacing the headliner? I haven't had the greatest amount of time to research, but if anyone has any special pointers that would be great.
one thing to note... i think your front seats at least will have to come out. i was pullin mine anyways to do the carpet so i didnt try but it will make it a lot easier. i read a few places you had to take out the rear window but i have pulled a rear window and it was more work than its worth!
you will need to take out all trim and dome lights.
also to remove the foam, which ended up being a lot hard than i thought, i used an angle grinder with a surface prep disc lightly until all the foam AND adhesive backing was removed, this is the important part!
hey before you use stockinteriors request a headliner sample. it gives you a great idea as to what color you need and the quality of the product
My dog pulled my headliner down a while ago. I have a crew cab and pulled the headliner out through the door without much trouble.
Just waiting for some free time to fix it...
