They do click. I just figured it was the hubs and it was normal because they have clicked since before I put the new current bearings in. I was thinking it was the hubs and when I get a chance to buy the warns to get rid of the stock units, it would fix the problem. I guess I was wrong, what does the clicking mean? I remember when I replace the unit bearing last there was no damage to the stub shaft.
The needle bearings can click if they are dry but you said they were new just over a year ago. The stock hubs are nice to have but just require a little more upkeep. You can always lock them by hand if you had too. Did you jack it up and shake the wheel hard at the top to check for looseness? You shouldn't be able to move the U-joint up and down a lot with a pry bar also. Look at where it goes in the hub when you do this. I have read that the clicking can be caused by the hub partially engaging also. Try locking the hubs by hand so the axle turns with the wheel and test drive it again.
I do know that my stock hubs are very hard to turn on the driver side and easy on the passenger. My hubs are manual not the vacum operated ones. I will test drive and let you know. Come to think about it I already did test drive the truck locked in four wheel when the rear driveshaft was out, and it still did the vibration. I guess I am just shuck on tearing the front end apart today
I will still try it just for giggles.
