Seats

Well I have to come back to the seat topic again, for some damn reason the salvage yard that i was goin to buy my seat from(i had it reserved) sold the driver side seat. So now my search is on again! What was the first year the 40/20/40 seats were installed?

I was told the ones I am putting in my 74 were out of a 2002 truck.

I know the 99 or 2000 seats I had before were 60/40 so I'd say 2001 or 2002 was the transition.

never seen a 90's truck with them - but that doesn't mean they didn't have them.

If that's the case I just grabbed a 40/20/40 seat out of a '84 Bronco Magnum conversion (4 door bronco - made from crew cab F-350) but I have no clue if they were stock. I didn't think they were - but who knows if they had 40/20/40's in the early 90's then why not the 80s...

You've never seen 40/20/40 seats in a 90's pickup? Not trying to be a dick but seriously?

yup. Dick...

All I have ever seen in them is a solid bench or 60/40 besides buckets. Yes I have seen buckets with a skinny little center console, but that is nowhere near the same as a 40/20/40 like the 2000+ trucks have. The center console is just that - a plastic center console that is not a seat.
I don't pay much attention to the 90's or 2000+ trucks, and even less to the 80's...

There's a reason I stay in this forum and have multiple 70's trucks...

My ranger is the only thing 80's I have or ever payed attention to and it will soon be gone.

Yep, they came with a true 40/20/40 seat. They came also with a bucket and console as well and the bench.

Ok guys looks like ill need your help on this. You to Chasetruck, no harm was intended I was just suprised you had never seen one before. Ok well it looks like anything within about 80 flippin miles of me is fresh out of '96 and down 40/20/40 seats! If the idiots at the salvage yard hadnt sold the driver seat out of mine I wouldnt have this issue! But anyway, what all has to be done to make 40/20/40 seats out of a '97(which there are ALOT of.) to fit and function in my '77?

No harm here. I put the smiley noting the sarcasm but inflection is hard to read over the internet. I hnoestly have never seen um. But as I said - I don't have any friends with trucks from the 90's or even look at them much...

As for how to fit um - check my new thread on instilling mine. From what I have seen the 97-02 seats are pretty dang similar in mounting. No I am not positive they are the same - but they look similar.

I have put both a '99 60/40 seat in my crew (pics in gallery) and now I am putting in these 40/20/40's out of a 2002 in my crew.

So what I could tell from your thread,,if i felt like drilling 12 holes through the floor/frame i could do that instead of fabbing up some mounts? i have limited acess to a welder so fabbing mounts would be difficult.

I know for certain 93-97 had the 40-20-40 seats. Maybe 92. I have never heard of the 40-20-40 being an option in the 87-91 body style
