I have tried the search function, and it is still completely useless. But anyways what is the size of the stock door speakers in the crew cab models of these trucks?
6x8 but also there are many 5x7 that double as 6x8
Check out onlinecarstereo.com for a wide selection
And from there u still have options as far as 2 way or 3 way...componet or standard
I'll ask, will these nicer aftermarket premium speakers out there sound better than the stockers WITH the stock radio??? Or would it be wise to upgrade your sterio also??
Almost all of the aftermarket speakers will be an upgrade even with the factory stereo
I'm sure any aftermarket headunit will power them closer to speck than the factory unit, although I don't know all the specs of the factory units
Well Mike, I upgraded my front door and rear speakers to some nice Pioneer units with the stock radio and they did improve the sound a lot. BUT, since I cannot leave anything alone, I went ahead and upgraded the headunit last summer to a nice Sony that has IPOD capabilities, an external amp and an 8" sub. Now it's really nice...
Like Chris, I upgraded my front speakers first- good improvement. But when I installed my new deck-HUGE improvement. I wanted something on a budget and bought a JVC Aresanal AD50. I love it. It has HD radio (don't use that much) and is set up to run an ipod. The feature I love most though is the USB port on the front, I've loaded a ton of songs on a flash drive and it plays them great. I'm rough on cd's, and will probly never have them in my truck again thanks to the flash drive!
i just upgraded to the kenwood ddx-512 6.1" dvd/cd/mp3 touchscreen unit
i added the video i pod cable and might do navi in the future
next is kenwood 6x8 componets up front and 6x8 coaxial in the rear with a 12" sub in a q logic box
I forgot to add that I also have an Infinity 10" Basslink powered Sub. Man, that puts out WAY more than a Countryboy like myself wants, but it really rounds out the sound nicely! Infinity Basslink Powered Subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

Yes I have already upgraded my head unit to a panasonic double din DVD/Navigation. I really like it. It's all touch screen and very nice. Along with it, I have 12" Solobaric subwoofer. My stock speakers just cant keep up, so it is time for some new ones.
