Body mount hardware

I have got one a little off the wall here. So, recently I have been planning ahead looking at getting the primered cab on the frame for mock up purposes. I havent had much time as of late to work on things, and had forgotten that the mounts were still on the 73 frame I got the cab off of. So i walk over to the shed last night, and realize they are really in pretty good shape. So I grab a can of free all and a bolt and hammer to start taking them apart. get them apart, and the lower retainer on one is bad. But I am thinking, hey...no biggie, I must have another lower retainer around here somewhere. I diligantly check ever nook and cranny of the shop where I ususally hide all these treasuers but cant find one. So I go walking to my boneyard. I see the 76 250 frame sitting there, and knock one off. walk back to the shop, and realize, its different. The three off of the 73 that are still good have a square nut and fit tightly into the top retainer. The other one has a hex style nut welded to the bottom of it, and is just a bit bit smaller around in diameter so that it wont stay pressed into the top one. So I am thinking, I have a couple more 73's out back, and I go look. Both of those have the hex style. Its not that this is a big deal, but my obessive compulsive nature kicks in.

A.-I want them all the same
B.- Curious if number dummy has any idea why or when they changed.

I dont know why I didnt think to snap a couple of pics to clear up the details, perhaps tonight. Anybody know anything?
