I have often considered retiring up in that area.
Maybe just to the north side of Telkwa, up on those hills, buying an acreage, build my own little motocross track to ride on, ahve a few animals and relax.
My other thought is to buy a sail boat, and have a nice auxilary low speed diesel in it, and live onboard, sail or power my way wherever i wish to go, and tie up in towns, or drop anchor in any bay i wish, and just relax....I love boats and water.
North of Telkwa, you must be planning on doing insect repellant testing
Best parts of the valley is the Driftwood area South East of Smithers, or the Quick area (insert corny comment here) between Telkwa and Houston
I live on the edge of driftwood and love the area. I would buy the property next door, but 1/2 a ml and no house is a little more then I can afford
Oh sorry Pat, I thought most everyone knew about my piece of crap.
I recently bought a 2009 F350, well its been a nightmare since day 1.
I barely ever drive it as its left me stranded, and constantly has issues.
Its nearly lived in a shop its whole life, and i am tired.
So I asked ford to take it back under the lemon laws, well about 30 or 40 minutes ago I got the magic phone call, and yes i am returning it saturday and getting another new 2009 F350....not exactly the same, but close enough.
I kept care of a house farther up that way one time and the owner had to kick me off of that property, that's how much I loved it. 121 acres of gently sloped land that was perfect for haying and grazing
Actually riding the railway tracks is a nice way to see stuff.
I rode from just outside burns lake, almost into terrace, following the railway tracks years ago.
Then took the Highway the rest of the way into rupert.

So Jason excuse my ignorance, is that not just north of Telkwa?
I assumed that was north.
And yes, the view was great.
I love to hike, so have done many around BC, also climbed up to the glacier, just south west of smithers, past the gorgeous waterfalls.
I walked on the glacier a little itself.
Camped overnight and came back down the next day.

It is north, just farther north then I was thinking.
Next time you are up this way, check out the hiking in Babine Provincial Park East of town. There is some awsome country in there and even an overnight cabin 9km inside the park.
