Is there a way to modify the stock up pipes by welding the flanges or swedging open the the end of the pipes for a tighter fit somehow? I have an exhaust leak and do not want to pay $400.00 for the aftermarket bellowed up pipes.
Thanks for your help.
You can use the small block Ford or Chevy gasser donut gaskets on the old pipes. They are thicker and crush more to seal around the pipes. Just coat them with plenty of antiseize.
Thanks for that tip. What about the erosion marks on the ends of the pipes. Will this still leak?
Probably not at first, but even with the Chevy donuts its a temporary fix. Roland can tell you how he completely replaced the up-pipes and donuts, and exactly 12 months later they were leaking again... Kinda sucks
It will crush enough to seal, but this not a permanent fix. You will be doing this again some day. With the bellowed uppipes, it would be a thing of the past.
G'Day jmpopp and welcome to FTE.
The boys are right m8. Its one of those jobs that you dont want to do again. Im about to order mine from Clay (cause he is the cheapest) and ship all the way over here. I can get the donuts for 50 bucks here but dont want to be going down the back of the motor again. The uppies are your first point of boost so its important they are working right.
