Rear Window Trim

I've been trying to find a set of stainless rear window trim, without success. I think it was available from 73-79 on single piece rear windows.

Does anyone know where I could find a some?

Thanks!

Are you talking about the trim that goes inside the rubber seal?

1973/79

There are two different types of back glass mouldings.

1973/76 and 1977's before serial number O80,001 have individual chrome mouldings that surround the back glass.

These have been obsolete for many years.

1977's from serial number O80,001, 1978/96's have a plastic "chrome" moulding that fits into the back glass weatherstrip.

This moulding just went obsolete, it was available until just recently.

There are quite a few still around at dealers, obsolete parts vendors. The following have more than one.

GATEWAY FORD in Kissimmee FL has THREE.

DON SANDERSON FORD in Glendale AZ has TWO: 623-842-8762.

CAIN FORD in Cornelia GA has TWO.

JST AUTOMOTIVE in Lebanon TN has THREE: 615-443-3086.

btw: No one in IN, OH or IL has any.

D7TZ1042436B .. Back Glass Moulding Center Joint Clip / Still available from Ford.

MSRP: $3.59 // y2kfordparts.com price: $2.47.

Thanks for the quick feedback guys...

I'm looking for the stainless steel (chrome) trim that attached to the rubber seal, not the plastic (chrome) "reveal" moulding.

I was successful in finding a nice set of windshield trim from a '73 f150, but I have not been successful in finding a nice set for the rear. The sets I did find in the junk yards, were damaged.

Any help finding the metal trim would be greatly appreciated. Glass install is one of the last things before my baby is back on the road. The stainless trim has to be installed in the rubber before glass is installed.

Well all I can find is the flexible plastic. I have the trim in my window, but it isn't in great shape. It is flawless as far as shape goes, but it has lost alot of it's shine over the years. I am about to replace the rear glass and rubber seal with a solid pane and no trim. I can send you some pictures if you would be interested in the stainless insert. I cannot give you a date on the replacement however. Let me know and we can go from there. Good luck. Sounds like your best bet is going to be a salvage yard and a good eye!

Your profile says you have a 1978 F150.

The following two chrome mouldings fit 1973/76 and 1977 F100/350's before serial number O80,001.

These two mouldings were not used after that 1977 serial number break, so either a previous owner made changes, or you are mistaken on what type of back glass moulding you have.

This info is taken straight from the 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog.

D3TZ1042430A .. Right Side Back Glass Reveal Moulding / Obsolete

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

D3TZ1042431A .. Left Side Back Glass Reveal Moulding / Obsolete

DENNIS CARPENTER OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has ONE: 704-786-8139.

No Ford Dealer or other obsolete parts vendor has any.

You are obviously correct about the usage eras for metal vs. plastic window trim, because you are afterall the great and powerful Number Dumby

I'm redoing my truck, and I like the metal trim. A 78 I had in high school for some reason had the old metal trim both front & rear, and I always thought it looked better than the plastic reveal moulding.

Would it drive you mad, to know that I'm upgrading to two-tone race trak trim, yet my truck was a standard Ranger, and I've added rocker mouldings which I dont think were available with the race trak trim package?

Just kidding...

At the end of the day... Im not concerned with originality, just want what I consider to be the most atractive trim window trim package they offered.

peace

You do realise you will have to replace the rear window seal right?

You will need the Rear window seal # D3TZ1042084C for wide chrome back molding, without sliding window. Fits 1973-1977 before serial #080,000.

Uh...wrong part number, this is correct: D3TZ1042084A for wide chrome back molding, without sliding window. Fits 1973-1977 before serial #080,000.
I hope Dennis Carpenter or someone else reproduces it, cuz it's obsolete, and....

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

To the OP: I'm not the great and powerful Number Dumby, Dummy...whatever. All I do is read the Ford truck parts catalog and type what it sez.

If FTE hadn't crashed the night I first signed on here, I would not have used that name at all. Almost everywhere else on the net I'm BKW.

I signed on here as BKW, but after the crash, I couldn't use BKW, so I had to come up with something else.

I was just teasing... I really appreciate all the help you given me in the past. You provide a lot of valuable info to a lot of different people on this website!

Anyways... I'll keep watching at the junk yards, and have a couple buddies down south check the yards there too.

Take Care

Really? This is weird, as D3TZ1042084A in my book lists as (For Fixed and Sliding Rear window, without molding) Fits 1973-1979. (Sliding window only 1980-1981)
