leaf spring swap

I have asked on 2 other sections of the forum to no avail. I am trying to find out if the leaf springs from a 1979 f250 4x4 will fit on a 1996 f250 4x4. I really am wondering if any body has done this. I realize that anything is possible and that any part can fit any truck i just want to know if anybody has done it and how much work it entailed.

You'll have to measure them. From what I remember, though, the 80+ F250 4x4 had 3" wide springs, and the 70s ones had 2" or 2.5", so they probably won't fit.
When I rebuilt the pack for my 84 F250, I used a leaf out of the rear springs I replaced.

my 79 had 3 inch wide springs and I believe that the rear springs would work i am just not sure about the front. I have a lot of dentside parts and hate to move to a newer truck if I can't use some of the parts i have. I reallly like the idea of the newer 460 with the efi and 5 speed. Does any body know the length on the front and rear springs for a 96. i might be able to see if my springs are the same.

These springs are not the same. The later model leafs are longer. This will create a terrible shackle angle. The later TTB leafs were designed with added thickness in the center to withstand the twisting motion that the TTB design places on the leaf.
This is just not a reasonable solution.

For the rear, the center pin location is not the same, so the axle will no longer be located in the wheel well. This will require the relocation of the hangers and this again is not worth the effort.
